Get to know Theresa Christensen
Theresa Christensen is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) born and raised in Buffalo, NY. Her passion for midwifery care started as a birth doula. After attending her first birth, Theresa was hooked on the experience. Since then, she has dedicated her career to providing care and support to women throughout their lives.
Theresa believes that midwifery care is really about personalized care. As a midwife, I want to work with you to create the best possible experience for you, your support team, and your new baby. I’m continually amazed by each mother’s strength at every birth that I’ve attended. I truly respect and honor each woman’s journey.
Theresa started her nursing career at Millard Fillmore Suburban, as a registered nurse in the postpartum and nursery department. She later worked as a nurse in labor and delivery at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, which eventually became Oishei Children’s Hospital.
In October 2018, Theresa joined the Mercy Midwives group at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. She was drawn to the group based on their years of experience and the support Mercy Hospital offers the midwifery care model.
As part of Mercy Midwives, she is also able to care for women throughout all stages of their life, not just during pregnancy and delivery.
When not providing care for women at Mercy Hospital, you might see Theresa walking her corgi, Lola around Delaware Park, hiking, or curled up on the porch with a book.
