When Should I Go to Ortho Urgent Care?

Orthopaedic urgent care is specialized treatment for minor orthopaedic injuries and conditions. Ortho patients are able to receive expert care in a timely, convenient setting. This offers a better alternative to general urgent care centers, as ortho urgent care is staffed by orthopaedic providers who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

WHICH INJURIES DOES ORTHOPAEDIC URGENT CARE TREAT?

Orthopaedic injuries are those affecting a bone or its surrounding joints. These injuries often result from accidents – athletic injuries, a slip, trip, or fall being common examples. Some orthopaedic patients may also suffer from chronic conditions that result in bone or joint pain.

Orthopaedic urgent care locations are not intended to replace the care you would receive in a hospital or emergency department. If a broken bone is visible, the bone is protruding through skin, or your symptoms seem to indicate a life-threatening condition, please visit your nearest emergency room.

It’s important to note that while a minor orthopaedic injury may affect your quality of life, it is not a life-threatening condition. Symptoms like pain or swelling may be distracting enough to sideline you from everyday activities, such as exercise or yardwork.

Examples of a minor orthopaedic injury include small fractures, strains, and sprains. Our providers have access to diagnostic imaging services on-site, and are able to place casts, splints, and braces in the office.

ORTHOPAEDIC URGENT CARE SERVICES

If you’re experiencing recurrent joint pain due to a chronic condition or unknown cause, we can provide joint pain relief. Steroid injections and joint aspirations are two common methods of pain relief; both are performed in our offices.

However, neither of these methods of pain relief are long-term solutions to orthopaedic conditions. Our urgent care locations also provide referrals to rehab specialists and orthopaedic surgeons, if needed.
